Google Chat notifications contain my email address unnecessarily

Google recently replaced their messaging app Hangouts with a new app called Chat. I am getting the notifications from Chat app to my Garmin Device. For some reason the notification always contains also my email address (as the recipient). This is obviously quite unnecessary information (I know that I'm the recipient) and including this info is limiting the amount of the actual message content shown on the limited screen real estate on my watch. I trust Garmin could parse the notification content on their end before showing the notification in the watch. Worth noting is that I don't see this email information getting included in my Android phone notification list for Chat app.

  • I just switched from Hangouts to Chat and I'm experiencing the same thing. At first I was getting two notifications- one from the Chat app and one from the Chat service within the Gmail app. I was wondering if the Garmin device was getting the notification from the Gmail instance, but I think I turned those notifications off. It certainly makes it impossible to read a whole message when the top line is occupied by the email address.

  • Garmin, any possibilities to get this fixed? Minor annoyance, I know, but the real estate on the watch screen is limited, so any unnecessary characters are indeed unnecessary and should be removed.
