FR 645M: Downloading Pre-Made Strength and HIIT workouts from Garmin Connect

Is the Forerunner 645M able to download pre-made strength training and HIIT workouts from Garmin Connect?

I know only compatible devices can do this, but I have been unable to find a clear list stating which devices are compatible.

  • I’ve been trying to do this myself today. Think I’ve figured it out, but if anyone has found an easier way, please reply.

First you have to add the ‘Strength’ and ‘Cardio’ apps to you FR645M.

In Garmin connect -> Activities, Apps & more -> check if the ‘cardio’ & ‘strength’ app are in the ‘favourites’ or ‘More activities & apps’ sections, if not add them from the ‘REMOVED’ section

I currently have ‘Strength’ and ‘Cardio’ in my favourites so the come up higher in the list on my FR645M

Then, in the Garmin Connect app or website, search for the strength or HIIT workout that you want, save, then ‘send you device’

Note that for some reason the FR645M only supports the strength and cardio workouts, not yoga or Pilates. This is a pain as yoga forms part of my running training.

Depending on whether Garmin has classed the workout at ‘Strength’ or ‘Cardio’ you have to access it from a different ‘app’ on your watch.

For Strength -> start button -> press up/down until you get to ‘Strength’ app -> start button -> up/down to select your desired pre-made workout

For Cardio -> start button -> press up/down until you get to ‘Cardio’ app -> start button -> hold ‘up’ button to open setting ->   Down button to get to ‘training’ -> start button -> ‘My workouts’ -> start button, finally up/down to get to your desired ‘cardio’ workout.

For HIIT I have only found 2 pre-made workouts. One is ‘cardio’ and the other is ‘strength’.

    HIIT/Strength - ‘The Anti-aging Workout’

    HIIT/Cardio - ‘The 10-Minute Muffin Top Solution’

Or, I found a video on youtube showing how to create your own HIIT workout. If you create your own, it appears to go under ‘Run’ -> training (hold ‘up’ button to get to setting) -> ‘My Workouts’:

This seems overly complicated so there must be an easier way?...
