645M - WiFi

Watch consistently failing to connect to the WiFi, and therefore cannot sync music. It can connect to amazon music, and is displaying the playlist, but when I try to download, it cannot connect to Internet. Incorrect password (even though it is correct), or some random error code. Does anyone else have these issues, or have a solution? It should be a very simple feature, and I don't want to have to return the watch.

Search the forum. You'll find a lot of other people with WiFi connectivity issues. For the life of me I don't understand why Garmin can't get their watches to do WiFi well. I had a 620 before this and it was also frustratingly inept in this area.

I worked out myself what the issue is, answer in down below. Thanks for the reply.

So I worked out what the problem is with this.:

    1. Garmin 645M only works off 2.4GHz frequency.
    2. Virgin 3.0 Hub router broadcasts 5GHz and 2.4GHz under the same SSID (router name).
    3. The watch is trying to connect to 5GHz frequency and is failing.
    4. I logged in to the router through webpage.
    5. Disabled the 5GHz frequency broadcasting.
    6. Removed the WiFi network from my watch.
    7. Added the WiFi network again to the watch.
    8. Tried to sync amazon music to the watch.
    9. Initially it failed with Incorrect Password for WiFi(even though it is correct).
    10. Immediately tried sync again, and it worked perfectly fine.

    So you can either:

    1. Split your single SSID out into 2 SSIDs, one for 2.4GHz, one for 5GHz, and connect your watch to the 2.4GHz one.
    2. Disable the 5GHz and reenable it every time you want to sync music.

I don't sync music too often, and going with option one means you might need to manually switch SSID the further you are away from the router, or is you are closer to it etc. I am going to stick with option 2.

I believe the issue is 5GHz versus 2.4GHz. I did not need to make any changes to my router, I just deleted the 5GHz from the available networks on my phone. I also plugged the watch into power while connecting
