Remove GPS status - it is blocking the view

Hi,

Is there a way to remove the "annoying" gps status screen when running.

It blocks the view of the different running screens with usefull data.

I have tried different settings, but i can't seem to solve it.

a photo is attached of the default running screen. As you will see the GPS status screens block the view of my milages. (which is interesting to see :-) )

  • You have to press Start (top right button) to start recording your run. The GPS status screen will automatically disappear.

  • It’s showing GPS status because you don’t have GPS lock. It will disappear when the bar on top becomes full and green. Or, as said in the previous response, when you start the activity. But normally you want to wait for GPS lock though.

But that is the problem.  I wait for the GPS lock (full green) and then i press start to record my session.

The (full green) gps status window keeps displaying.  Above the data i want to see.

    See second screenshot.

  • As soon as you start the activity (timer running) the status bar on top should disappear. If that is not the case, then something is wrong with your watch.

Oops thats bad news.  Can i do something myself ?  reset the watch, firmware update, etc...

  • I assume you restarted the watch already at least once? A firmware update may only be possible if you are not on the latest version yet. A factory reset may then be your last option. If that does not work, call Garmin Support.

I did a factory reset of the watch.

For the test i did indoors, it seems to work now.  i'm curious to test on my first run.

In advance thanks for the information.

    Hi there,

just wondering if you found a solution because my watch has recently started doing this too. It’s rather annoying having to slow down and reach across to press the button every few seconds to check your progress - it kind of defeats the purpose of buying a running watch to start with...

Any advice you have would be appreciated thanks.
