Forerunner 645 not charging after trying some of the solutions here

I recently exchanged for a new watch because the one i got had a white spot on the watch face. fast forward 3 weeks after getting the new one. I was putting it to charge but it didn't charge. initially i thought it was the wall plug. so i changed one. then i tried using portable charger. then i tried using laptop. nothing works. Managed to get a 235 cable to try and see if it's the watch or the cable's fault. Sadly it's the watch. because my cable charges my friend's watch.

Saw that applying pressure may do the trick. but nope. not working as well. Currently if i hold the power button it shows the triangle icon, follow by a battery icon with lightening symbol in the icon.

feeling super disappointed because it's festival season in my country and i won't be able to get another exchange or have it check/service anytime soon. Please help me out here if you think you have any possible solution for this Disappointed

  • You can try using a pencil eraser on the watch pins.  You may have something on the pins preventing a good connection.  Can you connect to Garmin Express on your computer using the cable?

Ive cleaned the charging pins and watch contact points with rubbing alcohol. following the garmin troubleshoot video. however doesn't work too.

plugged into the computer but no respond. computer doesn't prompt anything too.

  • Are you stuck on the blue triangle, or are you able to access the watch settings?

totally nothing at all. the watch is died. like you know when you let the batt drain all the way. and you don't charge it. when you try to switch on it shows the no battery icon.

Any update on this? My 645m is doing the exact same thing. I plugged it in all night, saw the battery icon with a lightning bolt in the middle. Woke up this morning and it’s still dead, still with the battery icon with a lightning bolt...

i had to get it exchanged again. the CS was saying to her colleague that it seems like this batch of watches are having this issue. not sure about the batch #. but as far as i know, exchange is the only solution.

  • Ha! My watch just started doing this yesterday. Went from 75% charged to dead overnight, and now it won't charge. Back to my faithful Forerunner 220!

  • Update: My watch came alive enough to recharge. It recharged to 60 percent and held there for an hour...and then jumped to 100 percent charge in a small amount of time. (I was on my computer, and it couldn't have been more than a minute or so that I looked away from the watch.) I took the watch off the charger, and it got super, super hot. The battery level dropped to less than half almost instantly. I put it back on a different charger (not on the computer this time, just a USB hub), but it lost all charge again. Phooey. It's two years old, I don't feel like spending $$$ to have it replaced...I'll just wait for the next generation of Forerunners, preferably the 255. Not too big a problem, except I won't be running to music for a long time!

Any updates? I just recently bought a new charger cable and still nothing.  My Garmin is 2 years old and I am having these same problems.  the triangle, the battery icon and then it dies.
