Pixel 4 constantly disconnects

I got a new Pixel 4 and is constantly disconnects and reconnects to my my phone when its in close proximity. Garmin support had me wipe the app and remove the 645 and reconnect it, but that didn't fix the issue. The latest "fix" from the Garmin support was to "turn off 'Alerts'" in the Phone settings menu on the 645, so I wouldnt be notified of the issue. Not a fix, just turning off the notification.

The watch vibrates, showing the phone icon and says "Phone Disconnected" and will reconnect in a few seconds to a few minutes, even while I'm holding the phone.

Is there a fix? Anyone else having this issue?

    I've got a similar issue with a OnePlus 6t

  • Hoping someone from Garmin gives this attention.  I have a pixel 4a.  Swapped my 3a.  My phone is most usually disconnected regardless of proximity.  It's becoming bothersome enough to either find a new watch or a new phone.

I have had this issue and more generally the device disconnecting for long periods of time.

I have a pixel 4a and garmin music 645. They don't work very well together. I am always trying different things - restart phone, turn on and off bluetooth on watch, resync through garmin app, in different order. It will reconnect randomly and then disconnect again later. No idea of any fix for this.

  • - did you check if location service is fully allowed for Garmin Connect app (GPS to be activated) ?

    - Power save mode for Garmin Connect completely off ?

    - any access rights missing for Garmin Connect app?

  • I'm not the user you to whom you replied, but I have an issue with the phone/watch disconnecting daily. My solution is to turn Bluetooth off/on, which works for a day before I have to do it again. Connect has all permissions and power save exclusion. I've also cleared cache/data on the app, removed and readded the watch in the app, and reinstalled the app. I'm trying to avoid having to factory reset the watch because I've done that so many times for various issues and don't want to set up my data screens, etc., yet again.

  • Aloha,

I have a 645/M and just got a Pixel 4a 5G.  So far so good, it is working well for about two weeks now.

If you want to try settings, and compare and contrast, let me know.

  • I cannot identify if you checked GPS on on mobile phone for Garmin Connect. This was the key to my mobile to get the connection stable (note: after an update of Android, GPS was switched off for Garmin Connect. After switching on it was working again)

Based on your message I turned on the setting for gps "all the time" vs just when the app is running. I haven't been able to tell if it fixed the issue but signs are positive.

Chris in hi - the gps setting was on only bwhen app is running ... I switched to "all the time" .. rn it is connected and I'll have to see in the next few days if it remains stable. Thanks for your comment.

  • I should've specified that I'm not using a Pixel, but an LG device running Android 9. (I thought Android devices might be the same in this respect.) There is no "GPS" setting, nor an "all the time" location setting. I have location enabled for Connect and have excluded it from power saving, which is all I can do.
