WiFi 0200 Error

Garmin is continuing to work to fully resolve the Wifi 0200 error that some users are seeing.  We expect to have a software update in the near future that fully resolves this for all impacted devices.

In the meantime, we have a workaround that we can recommend.  This workaround will work on the following devices:

  • vívoactive 3 Music
  • vívoactive 4
  • Venu
  • Forerunner 645 Muisc
  • Fenix 5 + Series

To complete the workaround, use the following steps:

  1. Visit http://download.garmin.com/pub_cert/root_ca/general/general-ca-bundle2.pem
  2. Right click the page and select Save As
  3. Save the file to your desktop as general-ca-bundle.crt
  4. Connect your watch to the computer*
  5. Put the file in the Garmin folder
  6. Disconnect the watch from the computer and the file will install

This workaround will not work on Forerunner 245 Music, Forerunner 945, fenix 6 Series, or MARQ Series.  The fix for these devices is still in progress and expect to have public beta in the near future.

*Mac users will need to use Android File Transfer to get your watch to go into mass storage.  You will need to fully Quit the Garmin Express program to run the Android File Transfer program.

  • Any solutions yet for the fr245M?

  • Hi all, for those that spent the extra bucks to get the spotify on the 945 and are still getting the 0200 error, i found a solution.  Use your personal hotspot on your phone and download the musics through it.  It worked for me!  Finally!!  But Garmin, we paid 400 euros extra just for spotify... We shouldn't be having to do work arounds...

  • Hey there,

I was wrestling with this exact problem and was able to solve it finally after 4 hours. What worked for me:

    1) Connecting to a secure Wi-Fi connection, i.e. something that is password protected. I connected to one on my phone, then added it on Garmin Connect, where it prompted me to enter the password again for the Wifi SSID. Immediately thereafter, Spotify started and finised syncing

    2) It failed everytime I was trying to sync it using the Hotel Wifi, which is an Open Wifi type.

    Hope this works for you.

  • Similar issue, had been working, then moved broadband to Vodafone (Uk), their supplied router was the issue, the watch had a wobbly connection to it and could not update. (note it takes say 10 days until spotify has to be logged into, else it stops working)

Switched router to a billion one, all working fine.

So really do try alternate networks, or if it was working then stopped, did you change your broadband (and router) at the same time.

  • I don't agree at at all. I don't know any of these routers but I'm sure they comply to the network standard and "all" other devices have no issue with these routers. It is either the Garmin watch or the spotify app which is not following the standard or having SW issues. It can't be that we need to change our routers because of this. The issue need to be fixed at the source and not the symptons.
