WiFi 0200 Error

Garmin is continuing to work to fully resolve the Wifi 0200 error that some users are seeing.  We expect to have a software update in the near future that fully resolves this for all impacted devices.

In the meantime, we have a workaround that we can recommend.  This workaround will work on the following devices:

  • vívoactive 3 Music
  • vívoactive 4
  • Venu
  • Forerunner 645 Muisc
  • Fenix 5 + Series

To complete the workaround, use the following steps:

  1. Visit http://download.garmin.com/pub_cert/root_ca/general/general-ca-bundle2.pem
  2. Right click the page and select Save As
  3. Save the file to your desktop as general-ca-bundle.crt
  4. Connect your watch to the computer*
  5. Put the file in the Garmin folder
  6. Disconnect the watch from the computer and the file will install

This workaround will not work on Forerunner 245 Music, Forerunner 945, fenix 6 Series, or MARQ Series.  The fix for these devices is still in progress and expect to have public beta in the near future.

*Mac users will need to use Android File Transfer to get your watch to go into mass storage.  You will need to fully Quit the Garmin Express program to run the Android File Transfer program.

  • OK, tried it with FR645M and it seems not to work.

Tried it with "Auto-Update" on and off.

Should I see some installation message when I unplug the watch?

    WiFi version is still 2.5.

    Used Firefox on Windows 10.

Thank you for responding. I did do all of that. Several times.

To clarify when I click on the link, it opens up a chrometab and it looks like just a wall of text.  I right click and save it as the name you mentioned.  Put in the primary Garmin folder.  Disconnect watch and nothing happens at all.  This is so frustrating.  What else can we try?  Has this even been proven to work on the 645M?

  • This was internally tested before we made it public as knowingly posting steps that will fail would not help any of our users. I am researching what may be causing this error on your end. My apologies for not having an immediate answer, but I will respond to this thread when more information is available.

  • i spent a good part of my Saturday trying the fix that was suggested.  Sorry, it's just not that easy, especially on a MacBook.  Tonight my watch just stopped at 7:26 p.m. after I came in from a run.  It's just frustrating.  I haven't had a problem with this watch until recently.

Any news on this? When is this fix coming up?

I've just bought Venu primarily for listening to offline music. This is getting a bit ridiculous - for one month users are reporting this problem and still no permanent solution. Garmin will start losing customers soon and some are already saying theyre returning their new watches. This is a priority and you need to be more responsive.

Will appreciate a reply to this, just to know anyone other there is listening...

Hi, I followed all the instructions and even had a pop up on my Vivoactive 4 saying it was installing something. However, nothing has changed and the problem still persists. Error 0200 whenever I try connecting tonsuring except when I test a WiFi connection, this does work the device says.

Same here - doesn't work on Vivoactive 4. If you go to the folder after the "update" the file is shown as failed.

Is there any new developments in solving this issue?
