Text message notification not appearing on watch (iPhone)

My watch does not receive text message notifications all of the sudden. It receives all other notifications, but not texts. I do not think I changed any settings on my watch or my phone to cause this change. Could it be related to the recent iPhone update? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks.

I have the same issue. It started immediately after the iOS 13 update. No amount of rebooting, settings adjustment, or resetting will solve it. I’m also still searching for an answer here.

I actually found the solution on Reddit last night. I had my notification settings for iMessage previews to “NEVER” so that my texts couldn’t be seen until I opened my phone, and it had never previously caused issues with my watch. But after the iOS 13 update, you have to change it to “When Unlocked” in order for your watch to show text notifications. It is a bit annoying to have to change my phone settings, but it solved the issue. Hopefully in the future Garmin will adjust their own settings to reflect the iOS 13 update.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages and then allow notifications and at Previewclick and set to Always (change from Only when unlock)... The same for WhatsApp etc...

I have been having this exact same problem since IOS 13 update, I receive every other message except iMessage, Has anyone found a fix for this issue yet? it has been months.

So after months of trying, I fixed it just now and it works. It was a garmin help thread that showed me, and it was the last thing to try down the list. I thought I had already switched on allow always, but only on a different setting where it was also allow always, but here is the link

Thank you for posting this. "Share System Notifications" was turned off on my Bluetooth setting. That was the piece I was missing.
