Reset watch, now can'r reconnect

To try to get a clean start on some issues I've had, I decided to do a reset on my 645M (firmware 6.20). Now I can't get it fully connected to my phone! Garmin Connect gets to the point where it says "Completing setup", I see a Connect icon on the watch face, but when the progress bar gets about halfway across the screen, Connect goes to a screen saying "Paring Failed" with a Retry button.

I've done this several ways, powering down the watch and up again, restarting my (Android) phone, etc. Any ideas what I can do to get my watch back?

  • With some help from Garmin support, I finally am back where I started. In addition to making sure the 645M was removed from anyplace it showed up on my phone, it finally took removing and reinstalling the Connect app to get things working again. Even then, I got the same failure message, pressed the Retry even though I didn't have much hope at that point, and this time it worked!

    Whew! Last time I ever do something like that...
