New 645M - Can't connect to any WiFi

So I just bought a new 645M. During the setup I couldn't connect to my WiFi network. I tried everything, changed settings on the WiFi network +++.

It shows up, but I can't connect. I've also tried connecting to another network, and WiFi hotspots from 2 different phones. It seems like the watch won't connect to any WiFi network, not even when it's an open network.

Any idea what's wrong? Is the watch broken?

I get connection failed almost every time, but once it showed error 0700. Does that help? I'm getting desperate, bought this watch mainly for the music features and I can't even sync it with Spotify.

Update - I now managed to connect the watch to my router. Is it not compatible with my router? I've tried changing all sorts of settings..

We get the error message 0300. Watch drains battery ever since we tried to install Spotify and connect to internet .Drops charge from 100% to %40 in less than an hour.

If we leave the house it will no drain the battery.

  • Call Garmin support.  They are very helpful.    Identified my new 645M as having a wifi problem and arranged for an easy exchange.

Make sure you test the following:

WiFi router has a 2.4gHz channel available and broadcasting.  The 645M won't connect to 5ghz frequency.

The code 0700 is important to report to Garmin support - make sure they know that.  I had that code and it clued support in that the watch was defective and needed a new replacement.

I only have 5g how can I use this watch to connect to music??

  • I'd suggest chatting with Garmin support.  If you have 5G only, you may not be able to connect the 645M by WiFi.

If you really want to sync wifi with 645M, you may want to consider buying a 2.4G router and adding a 2nd wifi network for it to connect or buying a router which has both 2.5G and 5G channels - most 5G routers do. What make is your router?

  • Set your smartphone as hotspot and connect the watch to it.

  • You managed to connect, or you didn't manage to connect?  My watch won't connect to any wifi either. When I try adding a wifi network through the connect app it doesn't detect my wifi network either.
