Headphone and Chest HRM keep disconnecting

Had this for a few different firmware now and it’s getting frustrating.

Have reset the watch to factory settings and still an issue. Did a six mile run today and cut off four times so I gave up. The HRM reconnects in a few seconds but you then have to go into the watch to get the headphones reconnected.

Any one else had these issues?

Having already sent the Garmin back once for a dodgy Altimeter (which is the same on the new device), prefer not too have to send another back.
  • State model of HRM (and connection method) and replace battery.

It’s a HRM3 via Ant+ and then obviously the headphones Backbeat Fit via Bluetooth. Both disconnect at exactly the same time when they do.
  • I just contacted Garmin about this issue myself. I'm using the Garmin Premium HR Strap and Ecandy Hv-803 Mini Ultra headphones. The HR strap will connect immediately when I put it on but then when I try to connect the headphones they both disconnect. After a bit of back-and-forth trying to connect them manually I can get them both connected at the same time to start my run. Partway through my run (around the 25 minute mark last time) they both cut out. Using the HR strap without music works perfectly. Using the headphones without the HR strap works perfectly.

Garmin suggested I remove both the strap and headphones from my watch and then do a hard reset. We'll see if that sorts things out during my next workout.

Thanks for letting me know. Exactly same problem for me. I have already done what they suggest. Sounds like a firmware issue as it did not happen on the earlier ones.
  • I have the same problem since 4.2, didn't seem to happen anywhere near as often on 4.1 albeit I was only on that a short time. I have Garmin HRM Run, Stryd & Bose SoundSport Bluetooth with a 465M. On 12km run today they dropped out 3 times, rebooted each time to get them back, very frustrating obviously. They all cut out at the same time, one time the HRM Run stayed connected, the others it dropped out also.
  • I received a bluetooth and ANT update today, hopefully will get a chance to test that out in the next day or so.

    What’s the update?
  • Yep, same here. Update 3.20 for the Ant/BLE/BT sensor. I'm going to install tonight and try to use the HR strap and headphones during my run tomorrow and see what happens.
  • So I tried out a 7km run with the new Ant/BT drivers and the news isn't good I'm afraid.

    1. Started Spotify
    2. When to run mode
    3. Headphones cut out immediately, Stryd and ext HRM didn't connect
    4. Reboot watch
    5. Headphones could not reconnect
    6. Go into settings headphone, disconnect and reconnect twice
    7. Headphones finally connect
    8. Go run mode
    9. Headphones stay connected, Stryd and ext HRM are found. This prevents me running for about 10 minutes.
    10. Run 6km perfectly, not even a crackle or pop from headphones
    11. 6km run split voice over comes over. HEadphones, Stryd and HRM all cut out immediately
    12. Keep running
    13. 500m later Stryd and ext HRM reconnect, headphones do not
    14. 200m later Stryd and ext HRM disconnect again
    17. 7km run is over

  • Has anyone had success with the new Ant+ 3.20 update? I still can’t get my HR strap and headphones to connect at the same time
