Cracks on HR sensor

Anybody experiencing same problem???
I wear my 645m 99% of all time on my wrist, then do a carefull charging. I swear that the mechanical damage is IMPOSSIBLE from my side!
Unfortunately I'm without a warranty (I won them). Price of replacement is approx. 96€ in the Czech Republic.

I red about similar issue with fenix 5 but don't know exactly... ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1420230.jpg
  • Something must have made an impact for this to happen.

With that said contact Garmin, the watch has been out less than a year so you will be under guarantee. See what they say.
  • Go to part b of my response and contact Garmin, hopefully they will send you a replacement.

As the watch hasn't been out for a year yet you will definitely be covered.
  • Lots of F5 owners has seen this issue. Always replaced with new watch within few days.
  • I had this on my Fenix 5x, but I received back a refurbished, not an new one (comes in air foil with the note refurbished).
It starts with some single lines, become more and more, But they looked like thinnest lines, not like you have it in the middle of the sensor.
  • What could cause this fault? Too acid sweat?
  • bobble2:

U R correct it started with small tiny lines which becomes to those brutal cracks. ! So that's why I though in the beginning "ah that's ok.. just small scratches from charging maybe...bullsh!t !"

    AlfreDoss:

Well maybe I'm 1bil km away from truth but try to look at the picture: Can U see that all cracks are right above 3 lasers and center "window" ? Half of the sensor where is nothing inside is just without any cracks (even tiny lines!) ... That's really, REALLY weird. What do you think about my idea? It looks like laser makes the cover fragile or causing some tension in it....

You are a bit far from truth, those are simply green LEDs and not lasers but yes, they could someway overheat and cause some plastic deterioration, or maybe the plastic itself defective in some production batch. In this last case it could pass as warranty defect. Hope I've been clear.

That is because your F5 is obsolete. They don't have them in stock anymore.

    I took a look at my 645M...

I've had it now for about 2 months. and wear it as my daily wear. I can probably count less than 10 occasions I have taken it off other than for charging. I have never dropped it, and never mishandled it when charging etc.

I'm going to get in touch with customer care, as it appears that this is a material defect used throughout their product range.

I'll keep everyone posted on the status.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1422078.jpg
  • Because I won them I'm f*cked up. Garmin won't help me. SUPER "pro-user" company...
