Hike Activity Missing?

Is there a way to create a Hike activity that uploads to garmin connect as a hike?

First, as far as I can tell the Forerunner 645 is missing the Hike activity (Ideally I want Run, Bike and Hike). I create one by making a copy of the Walk activity and name it "Hike". It inherits the green walking guy icon. I complete my activity, but when I upload to garmin connect it shows as a Walk. I can change it in Garmin connect to Hike, but that's not ideal ...
  • It's not a native activity on the 645, but I do have a CIQ app that will record it as a hike and upload it as a hike, with a large number of data screens.

    Hike 2
  • As far as I am aware the only difference between walk and hike are the data fields, which can be customised anyway. I only record in walk mode which is recognised by Strava as a walk.

Hey, Jim. I use your App on my hikes for the data screens but when it uploads to the Garmin Connect website, the activity is still labeled as a walk. Never really bothered me but figured I'd let you know since you mentioned it here. I have a 645M.
  • David_PDX - when you first start the app. long press up for settings. There you can switch between walk and hike. (the default is hike, but maybe you changed it by mistake at some point. ) The version number on the first screen will end with a "W" or a "H" depending on the mode you're in.

Do this while it's still showing GPS status and before you press start, as once it's recording, the sport can't be changed.
  • Scott. The other difference is the sport as shown in GC. If you record a hike, it shows as a hike.

    Try the Hike2+ app.
