Hopefully I am not being redundant on a thread, but I am having some issues playing a podcast from my watch. I have loaded a number of podcasts from the same series, but some of them have not been able to play. If I select it, it will just skip to the next one. I have deleted and reloaded the offending podcast multiple times, as well as deleting it from my computer and downloading it again, but to no avail. Seeing if anyone has dealt with a similar issue, or can let me know what I am doing wrong.
I haven't experienced this exact issue, but something else which I have resolved - perhaps this will work here, or will stimulate a different idea for you.
I only listen to podcasts when I run, and there's one in particular I prefer where I am working through a back catalogue. This means I am downloading 10 or 20 episodes at a time.
When I first got the watch, I did that via garmin express and sure enough, on the watch, when I navigated to podcasts, I could see one title "The Dollop" and when I selected that, all the podcasts were listed. Since the episode titles begin with the episode number, they were all perfectly in order - great!
Once I'd listened to them all, it was time for the next batch. This time when I navigated to podcasts on the watch, I found there were multiple sub folders for "The Dollop" and the individual episodes had been split up between them - but not in sequential way. The first folder had (for example) episodes 321, 328 and 330.
This was bloody irritating for two reasons - it meant that if i wanted to listen to them in order, when one podcast finished I would have to manually look for the next one - not easy to do whilst mid run. Having given up on listening in order, I'd let them run as they were, but in the case of the example above, when episode 330 ended, the device wouldn't automatically go to the next podcast folder and play the next podcast in line. It just stopped.
I spent a while messing about with things that didn't work: - re-dowloading the podcasts. - Setting up playlists. - Reordering the sequence - copying to the watch 1 at a time in the order I wanted them to play - copying to the watch 1 at a time in the REVERSE order I wanted them to play Hopeless.
What ended up working was abandoning garmin express and using file explorer on my windows laptop.
With the watch connected to the laptop via the charging cable, I navigated to:
- Forerunner645-->media-->podcasts
And could see an untitled folder, under which was multiple folders called "The Dollop" (each named slightly differently which I think is the cause of the problem).
I manually renamed the untitled folder "The Dollop" and dragged each podcast from the subfolders into that folder.
This worked fine.
I've subsequently abandoned using garmin express and now I just grab the podcast files directly from the folder
\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Podcasts itunes/
Having caught up with all of The Dollop episodes, I've added several other favourite podcasts. I haven't yet seen what happens when it reaches the end of a particular folder.
Hope all that makes sense and can help point the way towards a solution for your problem. If all else fails, just switch to The Dollop. It the funniest thing I've ever heard.
