How can you sell this device and sleep at night?

Do not buy this device EVER, the idea is perfect, but Garmins execution of this device is so poor, that it will screw up Your training leaving you sad, angry and ~450$ poorer.

This device crashes, and you loose your valuable data. After every crash, statistics such as "training effect" resets. So if You run 30k, and it crashes at 28, the Watch will assume you ran 2k.
Garmin, do you have any idea how valuable this data is for us serious Runners? Of course You do, since You invented it. Do You know how negatively Your Garmin brand is affected when You make customers pay ~450 $ for a device that messes up their valuable data. How dare You release a device that does not work.
Furthermore the GPS works worse than on my 620 Garmin, which I had prior to this. When i run in the Woods I had no problems with the 620, with the 645M I get the weirdest slowest times ever. Even if I activate both GPS and GLONASS.
Today I ran my longest race for this year, a 30k trailrun called "Lidingoloppet" in Sweden, it cost 96$ to participate, I trained for 6 months for this. And Your stupid device crashed twice. How do You think those crashes affected my joy of competing after training. It was a terrible downer Garmin! Twice! Thank You so very much! what am I to do now?
I am gonna sell Your stupid Garmin device, and go to one of Your competitors, that is what I am going to do.
Your Garmin company does not deserve Money and success, when You steal 450$ from Your loyal costumers with a device that does not work!
And if You browse the net, and even this forum, You will see this it not my solitary rant, there are a bunch us of that has gotten fooled, and it is a lot of Money!

How dare You, shame on You Garmin!
  • Regarding GPS + Galileo:
I just did a short slow 5km run under tree cover.
Compaired to previous runs on same route with GPS only itlooks like a good improvement in accuracy.
There also aren't those weird ups and downs in pace.
Looks promising, but it needs more runs of different kinds.

Good to hear. From my previous testing of 645 and 935 together the 645 records around 6 seconds per mile slower than the 935 but that was with GPS + Glonass on both. Hopefully this will close the gap.
  • Have to say, I'm pretty happy with my 645 music, no issue (apart from personal ones - I miss my touchscreens and the temp feature is pointless...for running...). It's sooo much better than my 620 it's on another planet, much more accurate, and I don't have to stand around for 5 minutes to get a lock to start (which was still better than my 610).
  • Ran a half this morning and it recorded perfectly, to be honest the watch always has.

Even though it came up with the correct distance at the end of 13.1 miles, were your lap alerts consistent with other watches around you and the mile markers? Was the lap pace as expected?
  • Simple answer is yes, some mile markers exact, other slightly before or after. Lap pace seemed fine though I tend to run by feel at present (appreciated not the best for proving a GPS watch works correctly).

In all honesty in the couple of times I noticed, people were checking watches within a few metres or less of mine.

I can honestly say that the watch performed perfectly under trees, through tunnels and everything in between.

There was a dreaded 180 turn....... No idea if it it lost or gained or played a little tune. By that time I was exhausted and wasn't looking at the watch.

I honestly don't think under normal use (for me) there is an issue aside from lap pace being a little giddy at times. Even that isn't that much of an issue. The lap pace has behaved like this on every Garmin I have had and I have had 5 watches.

??????I can honestly say it's been far the best Garmin watch I have had. I base this on looks and payments. GPS for me remains as good as any other watch I have owned, No better, no worse.

I will admit Garmin don't paint themselves in glory with updates where they break things. The music widget this time but I'm a forgiving, easy going kind of a chap.

  • For my own interest, I jogged between two of the mile markers for the local city marathon yesterday once using the Stryd footpod to measure speed/distance & the other using the GPS. Results were:

    GPS: 1.64k
    Stryd: 1.65k

Tried to keep the same average pace & ran the first at 5:53/k & the second at 5:54/k. The route was dead straight & flat, see attached pic & both were run in the same direction. Should have been good gps coverage as no buildings or trees.

Repeated this test except using GPS + Galileo this time round. Result was: 1.64k, average pace of 5:55/k. Not that much difference in the track, maybe a tiny bit straighter.

  • jkissane_ how do you manage to attach images?
  • In the Media section of your profile, I add the pics. It took me a while to figure out how as well! You can then click on the 'Select from Photo Album' button & pick the pic that you want to include. It's an incredibly clucky way of doing it compared to other forums I use.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1411630.png
  • talsela I think you can just click on fhe camera icon on the upper left hand corner of the post editor.

If you want to post an image “inline” within the text (with more control over the size and appearance) you would click the A icon, then the “sun and mountains” icon, but then only logged-in people can see it and sometimes the forum rejects it (because of bugs, apparently)ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1411644.jpg
