WiFi Not Connecting

I have a new 645 Music with 3.7 firmware and it will not connect to my WiFi; I have seen some old posts about this but with no solutions or no solution that worked for me.

I have tried all sorts of things:
  • Turned off Wireless Security (i.e. open network no password)
  • Changed channels
  • Set it up using Garmin Connect
  • Set it up using the Watch its self
  • Factory reset and removed device from Garmin Connect and done all the above again
And none of them will have it connect to my router I am sat next to. I have other 2.4ghz devices connected to that router fine.

I get a mixture of errors when trying to connect:
  • "Connection Failed"
  • "Connection Failed - Error Code 0700"
  • "Transfer Failed"
I mostly get the first, a few times the second and once or twice the last, but never successful.

I enabled a hotspot on my mobile phone, and I got the same issues mostly except it did connect successfully once to it.

Anybody have any ideas?

(Incidentally maybe it thinks I am at the Earth's core and out of range of my router, being for every floor I ascend I descend 3).
  • Same problem for me. Connected no problem to our old wifi network when the watch was new. Changed the router and will not connect to the new one for love nor money.

  • I've also got the problem. Except, I've been using the 645M on this wifi for more than a year, since I purchased it, with no issues. Then suddenly, recently, I get all the errors and issues described above. But nothing has changed about the network, which everything else in my house is using. Have also done all the reinstalls and resets and re-setups using watch/connect/express, to no avail. Took it to the Garmin Service Centre and they got it working on their wifi but still not on mine (or my office wifi which was a new one I tried). Cannot for the life of me see what's changed such that it no longer works.

  • i’ve been fiddling around just now (NOW 1/2nd/21) since my replacement 645m wont connect to our new router, replacement 645m never got a chance to connect the old one. what works for me is:

    2.4ghz

    WPA2

    enc mode: TKIP

    hope this works on yours

  • I'm not sure how helpful this will be to people but I contacted my ISP (Singtel, here in Singapore) in desperation, asking if there was some change in their network over the last few weeks that might have caused my problems.

They called me back and asked to do a remote upgrade of my router/wifi firmware. After they did this (apparently it took just a few minutes of downtime) I returned home and wifi connectivity/Spotify syncing was working again at last.

As I say, not sure hoe general that "solution" might be and of course I've no idea what would have been included in the firmware upgrade, but it seems clearly to have made a difference.

    Cheers

Exact same problem here. Brand new device was working perfectly since Christmas. I changed my internet provider/router and now device won't recognise or find any network including a hotspot from my phone. I've tried all the various workarounds - via the Garmin apps, factory resets etc. To make things worse, when you attempt to add network, it attempts to connect, fails and then freezes on a Connection Failed screen. Only way to resolve it is hard reset - it's a joke.

I've also emailed [email protected] directly as this seems to be a serious issue and deems many of the features useless. I was concerned it was related to my new internet provider but reading this thread, it's clear there's a wider bug somewhere. This really needs to be addressed Garmin.

  • Have you find a solution?

Same problem here with my fenix 6X. No problem with the vivoactive 4 of my wife

  • Yes seem to have solved it.

I took the suggestion of resetting the wifi router from Garmin. Initially that didn't seem to help either. But it got me thinking and I contacted Singtel, who provides my home internet and asked them if there'd been any change in their system that might have caused the problems I was having. They called me back and asked if they could perform a remote upgrade of my router/wifi firmware. When I came home and tested again, Spotify synced over wifi again! It took quite a long time to find the network but it eventually did so and synced.

Hope that might be helpful to someone else.

  • same here... damn, this sis irritating

  • Yeah same thing.  645m "No Wi-Fi Networks Found".  Watch is sitting on the AP.  Created an open network, 2.4ghz only, 5 ghz only, combo, wpa2, open, etc. .Tried all the combos.  Every other device in my house sees at least 1 network in my neighborhood.  Really poor experience and definitely related to the hardware/software.  At least before I could see networks, they would just not connect.  Now I have nothing.  Pain to have to plug my watch in to sync music.
