I now have the Fenix 5. I am thinking of getting this 645. I dont listen to music, do pay, no map,etc I dont golf or swim. Only do bicycling, run and walk. Is the 645 a good watch for me?
Why would you want to replace a higher end watch like the Fenix 5 for the FR645, if you are not interested in the extra features that could offer like music or Garmin Pay?
I had a Fenix 5x prior to the 645m. The only reason I switched is because the Fenix was too heavy/bulky for me. The music is an added benefit for me when it works. Since you don’t listen to music, I don’t see a reason to get a 645 unless it’s too bulky for you.
The 645 is my first Garmin watch. I also said I did not listen to music before buying, but I was swayed by the small marginal cost to have the music version and I was interested in the memory aspects of the music version. I have now used it with a playlist I had and found that I do enjoy having the music option especially for walks, and expect to use it more often. I would probably use the Pay option if it was an option where I live.
So, you definitely will not listen to music from your watch if you do not get the music version :-)
Ok, but if you think the Fenix 5 is too expensive, why did you buy it? The FR645 may not have been available, but cheaper watches like the FR735XT or FR235 were. Any reason why these two are/were no option looking at what functionality you need? Maybe you should be more precise in what you really want from the watch and how much it may cost?
chong67 I can't see you being able to sell the 5 and actually have much money left after buying the 645 - but if the bulk is the main issue then go ahead - if you run bike and walk I'm sure the 645 has enough features for you - depending on what features you actually neeed you might even go for an even lower spec Garmin
I own both Fenix 5 (Wifi) and the forerunner 645M. In my experience the OHR sensor on the FR645 is much more reliable and for running and cycling you have all you need. Aesthetically I prefer the F5 but as multi sport watch is a mess.. Do not under estimate the music feature, I found it very useful
The one thing I really need on a watch is the LIveTrack Map on the watch. I love it and found it so useful! Is the 645 at the most bottom end to have this feature? I only do bicycle, run and walk exercise.
chong67 What do you mean by livetrack map - do you mean the graphic map display page - I'd never thought of using it when actually running etc does it really give you anything useful - mine just shows a wiggly line but no background map detail to put it in any context
Its just bread crump map. I use it to track my wife and now she can track me too. We are both getting the 645. I am selling my Fenix 5 Sapphire. I had it for a year.
