Notifications on watch - all or nothing??

I use an iPhone, with garmin connect app installed.

i can’t find any option on the watch (FR645) or the iOS-app to select which notifications go through to my FR645. I don’t want them all... (e.g. instagram, facebook) but i do want SMS, gmail, phone & nav (for example).

I’m beginning to think I only have two options:
1) the watch to mirror everything my phone alerts on....
2) turn it all off
(Oh... and i know that i have that option for in/out of activity tracking too..)

Is that correct? Disappointing if so.
Thanks
  • on android in garmin connect there is an option to toggle notifications per app. I don't have an iphone but would guess the same toggle settings would be available in gamin connect on ios too.
  • Also when you get a notification, if you don't what that ap you get the option to block it from the watch and you dont get notifications from it thereafter.
  • Interesting to read that on Android you can switch this off per app, because on iOS there is no such option in the GC app. That is a very big shortcoming for this feature. I already had to switch off some notifications on my phone, to prevent them from appearing on the watch. I am not sure if Garmin can do anything about this, because it could be an iOS (Apple) restriction.
  • Well I've been looking at my android app GC app for a while now, and I have no idea how to turn off notifications per app inside GC...can't find it anywhere (so if someone wants to point it out...).
I just turn off/block the notifications I don't want when they turn up on the watch
  • In Android it's under settings (from the main menu) and then it's called smart notifications I believe. See attached screenshots, they are in Dutch, but you'll get the idea. It's the 4th option from the top in the dettings menu. To be clear this is settings from the main menu , not the device settings .ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1381534.png
  • Thanks all who replied. Looks like it’s not possible in iOS. I’m going to make the assumption this is down to Apple locking down something rather than Garmin obtuseness, but if anyone from Garmin is able to fix this, I’d appreciate it.
