Music stopped working - FW 3.40

Hi,
I've recently updated the FR645M to FW 3.40 but haven't used the music feature.
Yesterday I was travelling and started music. All as normal but after 45min the music stopped (muted). In the app the music was still playing and the volume was ok but I couldn't hear anything. I thought it must be the headphones and paired them again. Same no sound.
Decided to reboot any everything was normal. 15min later the same happened again and I had to restart the watch. Then again after 5min. Now I can't start any music. When I press play I get a "Paused" message and the song does not start playing at all. I did a "Restart Default Settings" but this didn't help.
I don't want to do a full reset because I'm travelling and would like to store all files before doing this.
Is there anything else what I can do to get music back?

Stefan
  • I experienced all these issues you were having as well. I just switched from one playlist to another one and when I pressed play (start), the watch gives a message ‘pause’. When I press the start button again the watch just displays the song an the time stays at 0:00. I also noticed the play and pause icon in the display was not changing. A watch reboot solved the issue for me and songs were playing again. However after a few minutes, there is no sound but on the watch the song was still playing. After about 10 seconds the sound came back. That same thing happened twice now within 10 minutes.

It seems music is still very buggy on this watch. Music is a nice to have for me, but still... Garmin needs to fix this in future firmware versions.
  • Yes, the song was still playing but I got no sound.
Are you still able to play music after a restart?
  • Yes, after I restarted the watch, start (play) worked again.
  • Thanks pcraenme, this motivated me to start digging again.
Finally I found the issue. It happens only when playing songs from one specific album.
I have not used a playlist but shuffle play over all albums was active.
This is the reason why it happens randomly.
Then I've decided to turn shuffle play off and selected the specific/faulty album. Bad luck.
From this point on I was not able to play music and when I changed to the next song it was still on the same album.

Finally I changed now to another album and music works fine again. Whenever I switch back the fauly one it stops.
This album was working fine with all other previous FW versions.
Once I'm back home I'll copy the album over again and check if the files got corrupted on the FR645 or if it is a FW issue.
