Bluetooth Frustrations

When I had my FR235, if I got too far from my iphone I would lose bluetooth signal as expected, but once I came within range of my iphone again, the FR235 reconnected instantly.... With the Garmin FR645 Music, once I leave that bluetooth range, it NEVER reconnects to my iphone. I have to restart, or turn off and back on bluetooth, or close down and re open up the garmin app.. it is so annoying. Why isn't this as good or better than the FR235 which is like 3 years old???? Am I the only one having this issue. I was hopeful with each update it would be addressed, but still an issue. If I stay in range, it is good to go, but the second you are too far from your phone and then come back into range, it doesn't auto connect bluetooth. All manual process to reconnect and utterly frustrating!! This is easy to test out.. walk away from your Iphone for a couple minutes more than 35 feet away... when you come back it never reconnects without manually resetting the app, the watch and/or the iphone...... PLEASE FIX Garmin!

I am on an Iphone 8 with always the latest IOS version. This has been an issue since Day 1 of owning the FR645 Music.
  • I have tried to unregister my fr235 frommy garmin account but there is no option. I tried both from a pc and from garmin watch. I click on unregister and it never goes away from my devices. It is like “stuck”. Any secret on this removal of an old device?

You have to remove the watch via the GC app on your phone.

Yep but that option is not available. I just reached out to garmin support. Sounds like a known issue. The fix is as follows: Log out of garmin app. Kill garmin app. Delete garmin app from phone. Restart phone. Then download garmin app from app store. Then log into garmin app. This was finally the only way for their server to sync up with my online garmin account. No more fr235 registered.

Sound like you are using an Android phone... ;) On the iOS version of the GC app removing a device is very straightforward.
  • Cheeky little Android dig  , the poster is on an iPhone 8 but it's not apples fault. They installed Garmin connect incorrectly obviously.
  • I totally overlooked the poster was on an iPhone 8. I more or less assumed, since I am using iOS and that has the option to remove a watch via the GC app. My mistake, sorry about that.

Actually i am very technical. The issue isnt my process. It is a “known bug” per Garmin. When you retire a device from garmin connect there is no option afterwards to then remove from your actual account. On a pc it shows as gone and in the garmin app it appears with no option to remove. This was the workaround per Garmin until they fix the issue.
  • And bluetooth still super annoying. I was hopeful this would fix the issue of the watch not reconnecting to my iphone 8 after being out of distance but nope. Still required to turn off and on bluetooth on my phone or restart watch or kill garmin app and re open to reconnect. Sad that my fr 235 was so awesome at bluetooth and the fr645 is terrible with bluetooth. Big let down. I sure hope this is fixed asap in a release. This has been going on since day 1 of the 645 release with no fix.
  • Same here.:( Removing my old watch from GC did not fix it. This morning I came back from a running session. BT on my phone indicates FR645M is connected, GC app shows as disconnected. Switched BT on and off on my phone, FR645M shows as connected immediately on my phone and when I open the GC app, it is connected as well. Garmin, please fix this, since having to switch BT on and off on my phone is unacceptable. I am using an iPhone 6 on the latest iOS version and also the most recent version of the GC app.

I'm having the same issue on a brand new 645 as well (Iphone 7). Mine does not do it every time I'm away but I'm averaging close to once per day since I have had this watch (2 weeks). Very frustrating.

Forgot to mention it, but for me it also does not happen all the time, but more like once per day.
