Music transfer with Chromebook

Is this actually possible or does music transfer to a 645m require either a PC or MAC? I only have access to a Chromebook (and a security-crippled work Windows laptop that I can't install software on or copy any files to an external device) so don't have Garmin Express and copying and pasting (using Chromebook) onto the watch isn't working.

I was hoping that getting music onto the device would be easy, even without a PC.
  • While, I have not tried this it SHOULD work. Keep in mind that your music must be DRM free.

If possible, I would try to copy music onto your watch using a friends laptop. If this works you know you are copying it do the right place on the watch and it is indeed DRM free.

Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck....

Copying and pasting (DRM free) tracks from Chromebook to watch doesn't work - I get the error message "copy operation failed: file not found". Copying the same fail to a USB drive works fine. I can create new folders on the watch through the Chromebook.
  • This is a long shot, but check you system setting on your watch to make sure the USB mode is set to MTP (Media transfer) instead of Garmin mode. Assuming your watch is in the correct mode, try Googling "Chormebook MTP". The bottom line is that it should work, but there is some discussions on some of the Chromebook forums on how to make it work.

Sorry I can not be of more help. Good luck...

Yeah watch is set to MTP. I think it might just be a Chromebook bug - it should work, but currently doesn't on my Chromebook.
