Why does the 645 separate out “my workouts” and “intervals”? Both seem to do the same thing - create a preset interval workout. The only difference I can see is that I create “intervals” on the watch and “workouts” in the companion apps (phone or desktop). It would be nice to have these all in the same place, if they are in fact the same thing. Am I missing something? Thank you!
The Intervals training that you can create directly on the watch is far more limited, with the key advantage of not requiring a connected mobile device or computer – or a Internet service or registered Garmin Connect account, for that matter – if you need to create or change the training.
Yes, Intervals are set up directly on the watch and My Workouts are structured workouts that you create either on the web or the mobile app. The difference is that Intervals is very limited in that you can only do a set distance/time with recovery X number of times, where with a Workout you can have intervals of different distances/times.
So Intervals you can have: Warm up 1k, 12x400m (400m recovery), 1k cool down. While in a workout you could have: Warm up 1k, 8x400m (400m recovery), 4x800m (400m recovery), 2x1200m (400m recovery), 1 k cool down.
Ah ha, got it now. It’d be nice to have them in the same place and just limit (if necessary) the complexity that can be added to a workout if it’s created on the watch. Thank you both!
