Music stops working

Has anyone else had an issue with the 654M (v2.50) in which the music will stop randomly after a song finishes? I've noticed it on every run over the past week or so. Sometimes it will happen after a couple of songs, sometimes not until 30 minutes into the run. Not the same song either. I've loaded a few hundred songs via Garmin Connect but have over 1.5 GB still free.

I think I have the same issue using Trekz Air. Podcasts work fine. Midway through a run I switch to song, choose a song, then push the multi-function button on my headsets. Suddenly I hear in the headphones I am attempting to redial. Suddenly the watch no longer makes music, sends music, the buttons on the watch don't see to do much of anything. The only fix appears to be remove/add the headphones again and turn off the watch. I'd thought it was the headphones, but now I am thinking it might be this Garmin issue. I have already replaced the headsets so it's not a defective set of Trekz.

To that end, any of you having this music issue who are using Trekz getting the "redial" message in the headset just prior to Garmin music dying on them? Super frustrating. Thank you!

This problem is on- going for me with FW 3.7 (Music stops playing). I think Orangeblood has good point re: cause. I have 3 songs which only show up on the watch, but not on Garmin express, and the music stops whenever it runs into these 3 songs. All 3 with a . (=period symbol) in the artist name. Garmin express let me load the songs, and delete them, but they did not delete off of the watch. GarminJoey -Is this a known bug? Already had to hard re-boot and lose all data twice due to Blue triangle of death problems - Really bummed to do it again after more than 1 month....

i am having a music problem too, but mine seems to be a little different. I can't hear any music over my headphones. headphones say they are connected, but no sound. you can see that it thinks the music is playing. i have tried it with 2 different sets of headphones. reset headphones. headphones work with my phone, just not the watch.

That is very interesting. There are 4 songs that give me an error message when I load them onto the watch although they are on the watch! I wonder if I encounter the issue when I hit one of those songs. Never an issue with podcasts. ONLY once I complete a podcast and move to songs. Then after a few - bam - no more connectivity. I think we're getting somewhere here perhaps.

I have this problem too with FW 3.70 using Bose SoundSport headphones.

The behaviour is that the song that has just finished fails to pass on to the next one. The sound stops (because the song is over) but the minute:second counter on the track keeps going up... Skipping to the next track moves the displayed track on, but it won't move off 0:00, there's no sound, and the track cannot be unpaused.

Interesting little additional detail though - the headphones stay connected and I keep getting lap announcements ('Lap 7, 8 minutes 3 seconds', etc) but they sound clipped - the L of Lap is not heard, almost as if something has got in the way of this sound being sent to the headphones.

The songs left on my watch after G Express tells me I've wiped everything are all by a band with a period in their name.

Could this be as simple as poor code from Garmin that can't handle this?
  • I had the same problem yersterday morning during my run with V3.7. The music stopped after the end of a track. I hope this will be corrected in a near update.
The other problem I have is I can't go to the previous/next track with the buttons on my headphone. It worked perfectly with my smartphone and my previous Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro. When I try this, it returns at the beginning of the track.

Mine DEFINITELY stops working when it hits a track it THINKS is on the watch, but is not. There are five songs that seem to sync on the computer. Then I get an error about those five songs AFTER it's finished moving them. Unfortunately the error is in Korean and I can't understand it. Anyway, those songs are on my watch catalogue. As in, the watch THINKS they are there, but the minute it gets to one of those songs, the disconnect happens and I must turn off/on the watch.

Now the question is how I go about removing those songs that aren't actually on the watch from the watch. No idea how to do that as they're deleted from iTunes and off the PC and I removed all music from the watch using the app on the PC, but they still appear on the watch. Reboot?
  • The firmeware 4.00 is Rolling out and it seems to correct a lot of problems with the music player. I hope now it works well (but I can't download the FW 4.00 yet).

I was able to delete those songs and download 4.00. Don't know if it's fixed it, but those songs that caused the errors finally got deleted with the new sync so I'm guessing my issues are now resolved. Thank goodness! Nothing worse than having to turn off/on the watch in the middle of a workout.
