Auto Lap 1/2 Mile, but Report 1 Mile Information

To date I've run with running apps on my iPhone. I recently purchased to a 645M and it is my first Garmin product. Strava, MapMyRun, etc. can all be configured for every 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile, etc to report out my current pace, time, etc, but all in terms of 1 mile splits. For example, at my first 1/2 mile, my phone would report my current 1-mile split pace (taking my 1/2 mile time and multiplying it by 2). At the completion of my first mile, the phone would report out the split for that one mile. At distance 1.5 miles, the phone would report out my split time for the second mile (taking the duration of the last 1/2 mile and multiplying it by 2).

Is this possible with the Forerunner 645?

I've done quite a bit of forum searching and not found a question with this specific case.

Thank you!

Auto Lap can be configured to alert you at specific distance intervals (1/4 mile being the shortest option). You can edit the Lap Alert to display various information depending on the need. There is not an option for the device to extrapolate your mile splits at every 1/4 or 1/2 mile. It will display Lap Time and Total Time by default.

Instructions for customizing the Lap Alert.
  • @hullme: Lap Pace is expressed as minutes-and-seconds per kilometre (or per mile for some of you folk). If you have included Lap Pace as one of the fields in the alert, then it would tell you how long it would have taken you to complete a kilometre (or mile) at the average pace for the previous lap, regardless of the actual Lap Distance or Lap Time, which I'm guessing is what you want. What you cannot have is the cumulative time it took to actually complete each kilometre (or mile), if your Auto Lap distance is shorter than that.

You can develop/commission/install a Connect IQ data field that will sum up the time it took to complete the n[sup]th[/sup] kilometre (or mile) for you and report it during your run, but (since I only have a FR630 and not FR645) I guess you cannot use a CIQ data field in the lap alert screen, so you would only be able to read that information after the lap alert has been dismissed.
