Music muting during notifications on bt headset

Currently notifications about laps/pace etc get played on the bt headset during music playback. The watch does mute the music first, then plays notification and then unmutes the music again. This is a very weird experience when you are nicely stomping away on some beats, having a great pace guided by the music. Then all of a sudden, no sound.. then a notification .. silent again.. music is back.

It would be a lot better if the music would continue to play, but at a lower volume. Mix the notification over the music, like what for example happens when you use your phone with Runkeeper + audio stats. So music would go to 40%, notification at 100%. After notification the music would go back to 100%. (Smoothly please!)
  • For what it's worth, I use the Pandora app on my Android phone to stream music when running, and when a notification or incoming call comes through the music is paused and not just muted and I hear the corresponding alert tone, instead of ‘mixing’ in any way. I'm not at all surprised that Garmin has chosen not to mix the music playback with alert tones.
  • I reckon the choice to mute the music might be down to processor performance needed for audio ducking. A cell phone has more available performance but then again, the battery doesn't last as long. Muting is fine for me.

With audio books and podcasts you want it to pause, with music you want ducking. Some apps/devices seem to be smart enough to differentiate.
