Plantronics backbeat fit

My watch is scheduled to arrive next week. Will the controls still work on the headset to advance/pause songs on the headset itself, or will have have to do it exclusively on the watch?
  • It might depend on the headset, but I’ve seen reports of people doing this, so it can work.

The Forerunner 645 Music has been designed to support standard Bluetooth protocols for wirelessly playing music, however there are differences in performance between different headphones and headphone manufacturers. While it is possible that the headphone controls would be able to control the music on the watch due to differences in headphone manufacturers it is difficult to say if all headphone controls will work.

The headphones that I use (Jabra Step Wireless), the headphone controls work as expected to control the music on the watch. There is some discussion about different headphone in this thread, and others have mentioned that the headphone controls have worked.

Yes, it does. volume up and down, pause and play. Haven't tried skipping fwd or back yet.

I have Plantronics Backbeat Fit(which I think are great headphones for comfort, secure fit and sound quality) and the 645 plays very nicely with them both ways
  • Anker Soundbuds Slim work fine

The only thing I can think of is that the headphones are connected to another device and you will have to use the plantronics connection switch app to change your connection

Forerunner 645 music is my first Garmin, my husband gave it to me for Xmas. I have Plantronics backbeat fit headphones. I have been following instructions but the watch does not pick up the headphones. If anyone has any ideas would appreciate. The worked perfectly for me with my Tomtom music and iPhone.
  • Did you make sure your Plantronics is in pairing mode? From the Plantronics support page:

Starting with your headset powered off, press and hold the power button until the LED flashes red and blue.

It might sound silly but when I first tired to connect my backbeat headphones to the 645 I wasn't pressing the tiny little clear button to pair them. In the instructions it just looked like the power on button. Once you get that clear button the blue/red flashing lights indicate it's ready to pair.
