Tones/alerts while running interval workout?

Coming from a 920xt here. While I definitely love the full package and I finally have a watch I can wear to work, here are my comments from a track workout this morning:
  • Is there a way to adjust the tones/alert during an interval workout? The vibration is so low compared to my 920xt and I couldn't hear any alert that I almost missed a few interval starts. I have the alerts set to 'on while running', but it doesn't appear to make a sound. The 920 used to start beeping down loud at about .02 miles until the next interval. I couldn't hear this.
  • I think the answer is "no", but there is not way to adjust the vibration intensity, correct?
  • Altimeter is definitely wrong. Both absolute altimeter (seems to not be calibrating with GPS), but it also indicated my ascent was 400 ft for a track workout. Hopefully a software fix is coming. Until then I will use elevation correction on Garmin and Strava.
  • The auto-light feature is great, I had not heard this was a feature implemented. Maybe its been available for a while on newer watches, but having the watch light turn on automatically when I raise my wrist was great (I often run track workouts before the sun is up).

It needs to be possible to get a tone, to inform you of a Intervall start or end, right?

I did a workout from the Garmin Marathon Level 3, which I loaded to the watch unedited. While the display of the current step and step pace and so on was great, I really missed these countdowns to inform me of a starting or ending step.

Is this intentional, am I unable to find the corresponding setting, or did someone forget to implement this?

It would be great, if someone could confirm this, maybe Garmin-Joey or others who tested the workouts yet.

Overall I really like my new watch btw! *-*

I, too, really miss the sounds for interval training. While I am usually fairly good at looking down at my watch before the next interval, having the sound and vibrate countdown was a killer feature of my now almost 5 year old Forerunner 220. Please bring back this option!!

If you go to Menu>Settings>System>Sounds> Alert Tones and ensure During Activity is set. This would allow the Forerunner 645 to use a 5 second tone countdown to let you know that the next step in the interval is coming.
  • Thank you! I was hoping that this wasn't something that had gone away for unexplained reasons.

I have this enabled and it definitely is not working this way on my watch for intervals. I think auto lap reminders are vibrating and alerting via tone, but interval steps are not.

Ok thanks for that information. We will get this passed along that it isn't working out of the box for all users.

One thing you can try is set Alert Tones to On, start mock activity and see if the alert tones come on for the interval workout. If they do set it back During Activity and see if the alert tones no longer work.

Alright, just did a little test and I couldn't reproduce after setting it to "on", powering down, testing (alert tones worked), changing setting back to "during activity", powering down, and testing again (worked again). Not sure if it was a one time thing.

I assume someone is looking at the elevation issue? Both activities I have done have the elevation issue.

Looks like the issue with the alert tone can be worked around by turning the Alert Tones to On and then back to During Activity. This is a workaround we are still going to investigate why it isn't working out of the box for some users. I

We are looking at reports of inaccurate elevation. Thanks for the links.

I can confirm that the problem with interval beeps is still present on latest FW 6.60. It was working earlier, but suddenly I didn't get the beeps anymore. Changing it to "On" and back to "During activity" fixed the problem.
