Only Partial Access to iTunes Library

While downloading music to the device seems pretty straightforward, I'm disappointed to see that only a handful of my iTunes library is eligible to go on to the watch. Since most of what is eligible are the older songs I used to pay for individually (before I subscribed to apple's streaming service) I figured I could just go in and purchase a few on my jogging playlist outright. However, in iTunes there is no such option for these songs (it only says "play").

I know this is more of an iTunes issue than a 645M one, but I'm disappointed and seem to be stuck. I figured Apple would love another way to take my money, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.

Perhaps someone has a quicker fix. The best way I was able to get access to the songs I wanted was to remove them from my library and then go back in and get them through the iTunes store at $1.29/per. Cumbersome and (can get) expensive, but did the trick.

Hey Croner, I’m guessing this could be because some of your songs are older DRM-protected tracks. Pre-2009, music bought through iTunes had DRM that prevents playing on non-approved devices. I, too, have over 100 songs with this limitation and have not yet found an easy way around it.

It walks you through removing the protection from your purchased iTunes music. Then the tracks will be available to the 645M.

@rtperna: good advice, but the solution in that link does seem to require having an iTunes Match subscription, which is $25/year. Not outrageous, but worth noting.

Does not work, at least for me. I have newer tracks I purchased and have DRM removed and the AAC files are not transferred. Now I transferred them as part of playlists, but no reason that should not work and they are tracks that I bought and then converted.

EDIT: OK it does work, my fault. Playlist creator was ignoring m4a files, once I corrected that it all worked.
