your experiences with (different) headphones

Hi,
I just need to find new headphones for the 645.
Any experiences with the Garmin list or any other models?
Thanks, Jol
  • I bought the new Plantronics backbeat fit 3100 yesterday. Just came in from my first run and I am disappointed. It could not maintain a stable connection while I was in motion, but sometimes it was stable for maybe 30-45 seconds before it all began again. Weirdly enough it was 100 % stable the second I stepped indoors.

I’m using the Garmin 645M. I also own a pair of Apple AirPods and Sony 1000MX, so I’ll try these as well before I return my Plantronics. Seems like a watch issue, but I was really hoping for ditching my phone since it fully supports Spotify now..

    Edit.
Had my watch on my left wrist. I'll try my right wrist next time. I also saw there was an update available for the 3100 (FW. 0.0.0.20). I’ll report back if there is any difference.

The fact that it was stable indoors is not weird at all, this is the case with all headphones as indoors you have much better signal due to walls reflections.

also note that you don't need to switch hands with the watch, you can change the primary earpiece in the headphones:

"If your prefer having your phone/audio device on the left side of your body, use the Switch Primary Earbud feature in the BackBeat app to make the left earbud the primary earbud. This moves the Bluetooth connection as well as primary controls to the left earbud and move the volume and My Tap controls to the right earbud."

You are right, I didn’t think about that while typing my last post.

Little update regarding the Backbeat FIT 3100.

As mentioned by telsarfaty, I changed my primary earpiece to left (watch is on my left wrist) and updated the firmware to 0.0.0.20. I ran exactly the same route and wow, what a difference. I did experience some stuttering, but not enough that I would consider a “non-true wireless” plugs.
I’ll make another update in a months time, in case someone finds this via google.

I heard about the AfterShokz bone conduction headphones, Are they the best in market?
  • I'm using the Plantronics Backbeat w/ Garmin 645M and cannot get them to pairup. Any guidance others who are using these together can offer would be greatly appreciated. Oddly, while they do not show as pairing, I did get a pace announcement in the wireless headset while running the other day.

Did you ever get an answer to this query? I have the same problem however my Plantronic Backbeat were connecting to my Garmin 645M then they just stopped pairing. If anyone could help would be great.
