Hi,
I just need to find new headphones for the 645.
Any experiences with the Garmin list or any other models?
Thanks, Jol
  • Have you seen this? 50% off on the Skullcandy Method when you buy a 645. Scroll down on the linked page.

I have the Skullcandy Ink'd (I really like them, the sound is good) and as Skullcandy is partnered with Garmin and the 645m, I'd say the Method is a safe bet! I have a pair of the JBL minis on the list too. A bit more expensive and I like them too.
  • I have Apple Airpods and works well for me
  • i have had very good experience with Plantronics Backbeat Fit. Comfortable, sweatproof, allows some ambient noise (so i don't get run over by cars blowing through stop signs) and good Bluetooth connection. Just ran for the first time with 645 listening to music and they worked great.
  • I just went for a 20 minute walk plus running up some stairs with Beats X earbuds and they never missed a beat (ha ha). No drops/crackles or anything wrong, music (James Blunt and ABBA sounded fine). I tried moving my watch arm in all directions to ensure I was the maximum distance away from the earbuds. I wear the watch on my left wrist.

I would have bought the Beats PowerBeats 3 but I wear glasses and hence didn't want the earbuds to clip behind my ear. Note: The Beats X are not sweat proof, the PowerBeats 3 are rain and sweat proof.

Both have the Apple W1 chip.

Do you wear your watch on your left or right wrist? I saw on DCR they recommend wearing it on the right, but I'm a left hand watch wearer. I happen to love my Backbeat Fits as well.
  • Watch on left and no drops when running. When I am done and start walking (with my hand extended straight down) I might get an occasional "skip" on the headphone. I can say that the 645 seems to be much more consistent with Bluetooth than my old Adidas Smartrun with music.
  • Quick update on Plantronics Backbeat Fit. Seems like there is a stronger connection if you wear the 645 on the right wrist. Still solid when running on either arm but get the "stuttering" when is is on my left and I drop my arms to walk after my run. Switched to right wrist while walking and no interruptions. i will still wear on the left hand but good to know I can move it if I run into any bluetooth issues.

Adding a link to a thread discussing using Air Pods outdoors. We have added a link to an FAQ on that topic.

I also am a huge fan of Plantronics backbeat fit. They work well with the 645 on my left where I prefer it.Odd dropout if hand is down but not while running.
