645 Music with Apple Airpods (bit buggy)

First off Im relieved that the volume is nice and loud with these (unlike with iPod nano). However the sound often gets crackly or loses signal all together and pauses the track so you need to start it again.

Hoping this is a software/firmware thing and can be improved?

overall i like the watch

Oh man I was afraid if this. I doubt a software fix will solve the problem as this is a basic flaw of Bluetooth connectivity in its current generation. Whatever Apple has done with its “special sauce” addition to its Bluetooth W1chip solves the dropout problem in their devices. It appears that Garmin is just using some off the shelf Bluetooth components and firmware stack. Unfortunate news.
  • That sounds like bad news. I was looking forward to getting the device tomorrow in the mail and using it with my AirPods ( which have been great on my Apple Watch 3 ) no cutoffs. If this holds true I might have to return it and stick with my 935 and Apple Watch 3 combination.
  • I use it with simple Anker SoundBuds Slim+ headphones. No drop outs no loss of signal and sound is ok.

On my use so far, I use Bose sports headphones with the BT pickup on opposite side of the watch and get no dropouts. I felt "naked" not carrying my phone though
  • Skopek - which hand are you wearing the 645 on?
  • Left arm and BT controller from headphone is on the right.
  • Yay! I wear my watches on my left hand. I just ordered the Anker Slim +. I was going to go with Bose Soundsport but didn't want to put out the money. I'll see how the Ankler does.

Yea I've been talking to garmin as my platronics back beat fit and bose headphones are fine indoors but are choppy outside. It's possible it's due to being winter and jackets etc, but they are basically terrible. Still glad I upgraded from the vivoactive 3, but really disapointed in the BT performance thus far. I hope some of it fixable via software

I'm going to grab a pair of the ankers to see if they work better since they are pretty cheap. Oddly my headphone are totally find w/ my phone, so it appears to be an issue with the watch vs the headphones in general.
  • Since the update to 2.50 i had no dropouts indoor with the Apple AirPods.
