Running Dynamics - Pod vs HRM-Run

Coming from a Forerunner 620 I want to continue to have access to Running Dynamics data when I get my 645. If I use an HRM-Run with the 645 I'll get the Running Dynamics data plus Heart Rate from the strap. My question is what does the 645 do when it has access to two different sets of Heart Rate Data - one optical and one from the strap? Does it track and use both sets of data or does it just use one of them? If it uses just one, which does it use?

Thanks,
Mike
  • Which pod do you have in mind? A foot pod or the RD pod? In case of the RD pod, in conjunction with a normal HR strap it will give you the same set of data as the HRM-Run. Thus the HRM-Run or HRM-Tri can be a replacement for the RD Pod, and additionally gives you heart rate.

Related Q - can 645 + non-garmin HRM chest belt + garmin running dynamics pod work simultaneously together so that HR data comes to the 645 from Chest belt and dynamics from the pod ?

Sanjeev_Patel Yes. tmk2 already answered that question in the third sentence of their last post.
  • You could even use an RD Pod with an HRM-Tri strap and the running dynamic would come from the pod and HR from the strap.
