HRM Pro Plus compatible with Forerunner 45 or 55

There does seem to be several threads and answers ti this query, but nothing seems conclusive. Will the HRM Pro Plus work seamlessly with the 45 or 55?

    It will work, but just as a simple HR strap. None of the more advanced features, like running dynamics or post-workout download, will work.

    So you'd be better off buying a simpler cheaper HR strap.
