Stuck at 'Wait for GPS' indefinitely

I have recently bought a Forerunner 45 because of good reviews, some specifically about the GPS. But since I've had it, my watch forever says 'Wait for GPS' when I try to start an activity. I have tried GPS only, GPS + GALILEO and GPS + GLONASS with no luck, leaving it several hours on the side at some points. I live in the middle of Bristol in the UK so not exactly a remote location, and previous smart watches have had no issue picking this up. I have tried deleting the 'REMOTESW' and syncing to Garmin Express (as suggested on here) several times, and each time after I sync, even though the CPE changes from 'Missing' to 'Current', it still gets stuck on 'Wait for GPS'.  Sometimes the bar doesn't progress at all, sometimes it loads 3/4 of the way then freezes. Is there an actual fix to this problem? Or do I have to return the watch and choose a different brand?

  • I encounter this problem routinely.  There's an

arc-shaped red indicator bar along the outside.  I'll stand outside, and if it hasn't moved in 20-30 seconds, I press the start/stop button (the button at the 1 pm position) and it changes to a green arrow.  If I leave that alone, it will usually change to the stop watch within about 10 seconds.
