Drying it with a tissue certainly wasn't the cause.  It most likely sustained some type of impact or excessive strain on that side of the watch strap in the past that cause cracks on the lugs which finally gave in.  When I zoom in on your first photo, I can see scratches on the the underside of the watch and the upper right screw is starting to strip.  I suspect user care and over torqueing of the screws were the cause.

  • You're right, he over torqued those screws. Most probably Garmin service won't fix it under warranty.

The only solution is to put tons of glue and give it a shot.

Right : fix by the glue (Looks so smart and elegant!) but there is another solution : iWatch. A friend of mine got it : build in metal and hang in solid way on the wrist. Thats 100 times better than the "Forerunner bing bing 45 series tiny-toy-watch" ! (Also their server run better against hackers and their cryptoware!! ho ho!)
