GPS + GLONASS or GPS + GALILEO

I Don't care about battery life, but i would like the best accuracy. I live in Washington State. Glonass gives me good accuracy, would galileo give me better?

  • My understanding is that at the moment Garmin's engineers are focussing on getting the best results from GLONASS and haven't yet put much effort into fine-tuning Galileo performance.  However, often it'll just come down to satellite position, so some days one might perform better than the other for you.

I would recommend that you take a look at this page: https://www.gnssplanning.com/#/charts

You can set your position and then see how many satellites from each system are visable from your given location on a given day and what the Dilution Of Precision (DOP) is. Basically you want the lowest DOP for the time frame that you are training in. Try filtering the different constellations on and off and see how it impacts the different types of DOP.

I probably wouldn't bother doing it every time you go training but it will give you a good idea of which combination of systems typically performs best at your location.
