Can I pause an activity for a while?

The other day I rode my bike to my buddies house. I tracked it with my watch, then I paused it when I got there so I could resume it when I would leave. but it just auto-saved after like 10 minutes. So- a coule questions..

1) Is there a way to turn off auto-save?

2) Is there a way to make it just be a watch while it's paused so that I can go back to my activity without having lost a lot of battery?

  • A problem that is still not addressed as we had to discover this hidden issue which has no resolution upon purchasing a 45 two weeks ago.

  • 1- I think that after the system auto-pauses if you go back once (to the activity data screen) it won't try to auto-save. Other solution is to you manually pause it and then remember to unpause when you return to your activity. But in my opinion a given activity should be closed when you pause it for a long time Stuck out tongue

2- you can definitely show the clock watch face during the activity or even when it's paused. If you're seeing activity data screen you just need to scroll down until you reach the last watch face. If you're seeing pause screen, just need to back once and then scroll down until you reach the last watch face.

  • Just found a way to avoid auto save on forerunner 45, it’s like edge 539- my bike device:- stop activity then turn off device. When you turn it on again activity is there to restart. Tried this once today on a walk, device was off for about 45 minutes. Obviously you lose watch function etc but avoids breaking a long walk/ run into separate activities!

  • WOW! You are AWESOME! Thank you!!!
