backlight on FR45 doesn't go on

Got my new FR45 yesterday. Backlight settings are on (movement/buttons/etc) during and outside activities, but no light goes on? Bug or defect? Software version 2.80

Backlight both on and off seem a bit broken just now. I have backlight including gestured turned fully off but when i get to the heart rate graph on the watch the backlight suddenly comes on

I'm running v3.0 and the backlight is set on for 'gesture' but nothing happens. I have to press the light button. Hopefully Garmin fix this in the next release

Similar problem here. Backlight turns on for gesture all the time except during garmin coach workout. Pls fix it.

Me too, heart rate screen always turns the backlight on when I have it set to never turn on.

I wish it was dimmer and less blue, I only need it at night and I don't want to be blinded.

They have known about this for months andm onths but never fix it. I don't think they even read these forums.

I went back to the shop and got my forerunner 45 replaced by a new one. No more problems, so it doesn't seem to be related to software (in this case).

Check if Do Not Disturb is enabled at the time you are doing this gesture. On my watch (v3.0.0) the gesture to turn on the backlight only works if I am not in the Do Not Disturb time period.

Turn off the DO NOT DISTURB setting. Mine now works!
