Activity won't sync

I see this sort of question has been asked before, and I have been attempting to fix it with some solutions previously given but have had no luck.

Garmin activity saved on my watch (forerunner 35) distance, time, heart rate, steps etc all on watch, including the activity itself - however will not sync to garmin connect. The only thing I notice is missing from the activity on watch is laps.

I have tried to upload the activity manually but it is clear it is corrupted. I also tried to use some of the software for repairing corrupted files, but it uploaded as a 4 minute run (activity was an hour long 13k run)

Here is the file - [solved]

  • This will work - [solved]

    2 issues:

    timestamps not in chronological order

unexpected big change of distance value

Fixed using Fit File Repair Tool

  • Wow! Thank you so much, thought for sure that was lost.

Just for future, do you think this was just a freak incident or is there something I likely did that triggered it (it was an interval session so a lot of stop and starting)

Obviously I understand its an old watch and will have issues sometimes.

    Thanks again, lifesaver!

Not all that unusual for the Forerunner 35, as you can see by all the posts on the Forerunner 35 forum. Press stop or pause seems to trigger this, but not always. Meanwhile:

    • Sync your watch, backup the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder, then do a full master reset of your Forerunner 35 using these directions - Restoring All Default Settings.
    • Perform a weekly cleanup of the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities to Free Up Space. The F35 seems to have problems with longer activities, so this step is important before a longer event.
