Meters instead of miles on garmin connect

For some reason, the last update to firmware on my 230 has lead to Garmin Connect showing the distance of my run in meters not miles.  I checked all settings on the 230 and in GC, and they are all set to miles.  Anyone have any idea what's going on?

  • I see the Activity type is set to Track Running. I do not have Track Running on my watch, so cannot test it, but I suspect it works in the same way as Pool Swimming, where the distance is measuered in the units used for the pool length. So if your track length is set to the international standard of 400m in the setting of the Activity, the distance will be shown in meters. If you do not wish that, either change the track length to yards, or change the activity type to the plain running.

  • My Garmin 35 has done the same thing since the last update. All of my "track running" activities display my distance in kilometers instead of miles. It took me a while to figure out that changing the activity to just "running" will switch it back to miles. There is no other way that I have found to edit the distance for the "track running" activity.
