HR strap or watch sensor

The pairing of my HR strap worked well. But how can I be sure that the HR strap is working well and that the HR value is coming from the strap and not from the watch optical sensor ?

Just have faith.

But seriously, look at the LEDs. If they're off, then heart rate comes from the strap. Please note, that external sensors work only in activity mode.
