Incorrect Split Distance. Split times are recorded every 1.61km even though lap distance is set to 1km

I have settings set to metric and 1km laps configured but all the split times during my runs are being recorded every 1.61km! So I only get  3 split times during a 5k run rather than the correct 5. These incorrect split distances and associated times are also synced to the Connect app on my phone.

This problem only started 3 weeks ago, for the 11 months prior to that everything was working perfectly for 50+ runs.

  • I suggest rechecking the settings it's giving you the split after 1 mile. My FR 35 gives me the split @ 1 km  Firmware 3.50

  • Same firmware, 3.50.

I've checked a few times (I can't quite believe it's happening and was convinced it's me!) but the final confirmation is when an activity is selected: before the Start option is displayed the lap distance is displayed for confirmation. It definitely shows ""1 km". Metric and imperial cannot be mixed, I haven't changed the settings for months and the firmware has not changed so what's going on?

One thing that has changed is the Connect app version on my Android phone. The watch and phone app do sync in both directions so maybe the fault originates in the phone app?

  • Try to do the settings on the APP

Forerunner 35 , Device Settings, System, Kilometers.

Also Delete some of your old Activities to free up space on the Watch.

  • I set and reset the auto lap a few times before it decided to work correctly. I hadn't tried freeing up space at that point.

I'm not sure if what I did fixed it, I'll post again if the problem reoccurs.
