Wow, thank you so much - what a hero!
I'll try a master reset and cross my fingers that it doesn't happen again. My watch has been fine for years, I hope it will get back to its former glory!
I tried that...it says it doesn't recognize the file. It's .FIT file from my Forerunner 35.

Attach the fit file to this thread. We can look to see if it is repairable.
Thanks!

I've got the same problem - for the last 2 weeks, my long (well, it's not that long, only 7 miles!) hasn't synced. Thought I was unlucky the first time and now it's done it again. Shorter runs and long walks have synced OK.
I've tried all the steps in this thread - tried to manually upload the .FIT files to Garmin Connect on my PC, but I get error 'your file was not accepted by the system', contact Support for assistance - so here I am!
I couldn't get the Fit File repair tool to work, either.
Help! - What can I do? - will this keep happening? Do I need a new watch? Or do I try resetting to Factory settings? Would rather not do that, but if you think it'll fix the problem I'm happy to try.

Post your file here so we can assist with the repairs. Connect your watch to a computer then browse to the device's \GARMMIN\ACTVITY folder to find the files, then...
will this keep happening?
Maybe depending on what we find is the root cause and fix.
Or do I try resetting to Factory settings?
Might help, but don't do that until you've saved/recovered the corrupted file(s).
Do I need a new watch?
The Forerunner 35 has a history of this issue. I would encourage you to consider a new watch. If you like the Forerunner series, any of those in the current lineup would be much better - GPS Running Watches | Running Watches for Everyone | Garmin
Thank you very much!
