I've seen a few topics about this before, but nothing has worked so far. When I am recording my runs they are all listed as indoor treadmill runs with no map data, despite getting a GPS signal beforehand. I've tried turning off and on, resetting, and reset to default and none of it is working. I've taken the watch out in the car for a spin at about 10mph and it recorded the map data on that, so it's only runs for some reason.
If you're having issues with the map not being displayed in Garmin Connect (as is the case with the OP), then check that the ephemeris data file is not damaged or expired. Connect the watch with USB cable to the computer, and check for updates with Garmin Express. Expired EPO on a Garmin Outdoor Watch
