Worthwhile upgrade from FR 220?

Hi there,

I have a FR 220. It is great. However, I really like the look of the FR 35.

Can anyone advise if this is a wortwhile upgrade or just some bells and whistles?

I should lead by saying I'm not the type of person who wants the latest thing just because it is there. I am usually happy to stick with older reliable stuff unless there are some compelling reasons to upgrade.

I see the heartrate feature is included in the FR 35. which is cool but perhaps not in itself a big win for me.

A few niggles I have with the FR 220:
* occasionaly the distance/pace seems to be calculated wrongly. e.g. my distance/pace seems like it has been calculated wrong for a stretch of road I know is longer than has been calculated. I should say this is not common but I have seen it happen. Maybe just a temporary GPS glitch.
* the navigation is a bit klunky
* it is sometimes a bit tricky to see the display when running at night

So other than the heartrate is there any features in particular relevant to above or just in general that would make the FR 35 a worhwhile upgrade for me? Or is it mostly superficial improvements? Stuff like "faster / more accurate GPS" or "faster/more intuitive UI" and such like would be interesting to me.

All feedback appreciated.

Thanks.

PS - I meant the title of this thread to read:

    "Worthwhile upgrade *from* FR 220?

i.e. is it worth upgrading *from* the FR 220 to the FR 35.
  • The FR35 is more basic. You will see the same thing with Pace/Distance as it reckon you are looking at instant pace and that is at the mercy of GPS. There’s no navigation on the FR35. What do you want to get out of a new watch? If it’s better pace, better navigation and a better display then don’t upgrade. If you want navigation (whether it’s better or not it don’t know) then you can use a 235 with a CIQ app or the 735/935 with it natively supported. All the newer watch with have better displays. Also worth looking at the VA3 for a really nice feature rich watch, but it’s not the price of the FR35
