Hi,
how can I see the time in hearth rate zones in garmin connect after a workout? I cant find the "Time in Zones" tab at the bottom of the activity page.. Isnt this available with the forerunner 35, and if not why?
Thanks
Isnt this available with the forerunner 35,Given that there is ">‑35">no Time in Zone data field selectable by the user on a Forerunner‑35 (cf. its availability on the FR235), I'd say the tracking of such is not supported.
and if not why? What do you mean by “why?” Capturing time in heart rate zones in the FIT files recorded is simply not a feature that is available on all Garmin device models. A design decision not to offer the feature in a particular model requires no justification to the buying public or the individual customer, unless Garmin has (inadvertently, inaccurately, or otherwise) indicated its inclusion in the device model's specifications sheet and marketing collateral upon release.

There is no selectable data field on the 920 either.Sorry, Philip, but there is a Time in Zone data field on the FR920XT.
I would suggest that time in zones is supported since, HR zones can be set up on the FR35.While this post by GFM1011 (Garmin Forum Moderator: Joseph) is a bit out of date, it still establishes the principle a device model (e.g. ">‑220">Forerunner‑220, vívoactive, ">‑810">Edge‑810) may not support capturing Time in Zones for an activity in spite of allowing Heart Rate Zones to be set up.
Furthermore, this from Page 4 of the manual would suggest that it should be visible on Garmin Connect:I cannot explain why the FR35 Owner's Manual would say that (since I didn't write the thing), but it is clear to me that GC can/will only present a Time in Zones chart if the data is already in the FIT file recorded and uploaded by the activity tracking device. If the device does not have five registers to keep track of the elapsed time in each zone during an activity (and therefore cannot offer a Time in Zone data field, of which the specific zone number is a parameter), then it cannot write that information into the FIT file when the activity is completed and its data record saved.
"and if not why?" I mean it should be easy to display the hart rate time in zones in Garmin connect. It isn't “easy” if the calculation feature is not in GC's design and/or code base. How easy technically it may be to add the feature has no bearing on whether it should be made available to users.
When I upload the activity to example "trainingpeaks" I can see this. So? Why is it so many users imagine that if competing software application (or platform)‑X (whether that's Strava, TrainingPeaks, MapMyRun, PimpMyRide, etc.) has a desirable feature, then GC and everything else “should” have it so that users can have it all? Even if a company aims to be the best in the market, all it needs do is offer coverage for, say, 81% of features that users may want (irrespective of whether they've seen it implemented elsewhere, or are simply noting functionality gaps that could conceivably be closed) without it necessarily being a strict superset of the 79% that the next-best competitor in the market offers.
