Forerunner 35 devices running 2.70- PLEASE READ!

There was an issue with the 2.70 software update that may prevent some devices from updating as expected. For this reason the 2.70 update was removed from production, but it is possible that some devices received the firmware and were able to successfully update.

If your device successfully updated to 2.70, you will need to manually update your device to the new 2.80 update. To manually update the software please do the following:

Download the attached .zip file
Extract the GUPDATE.RGN
Connect your Forerunner 35 to your computer
Open the device as a mass storage unit
Open the Garmin Folder
Delete any GUPDATE.GCD or GUPDATE.RGN files currently on the device
Place the GUPDATE.RGN file in the Garmin folder
Safely disconnect the device from you computer
Allow the update to install
Sync with Garmin Express to update to the most recent software version.

We expect this manual update process to be a one time process for those that have 2.70, and any future updates can be installed automatically through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. We do apologize for any inconvenience.

hi,

are you on firmware 2.70 ?

if so I guess you can also start with installing the beta firmware found here

read the instructions and afterwards update via Garmin Express to the latest FW version 3.50

when not working, give a yell

Hi there :)

Yes, my FR35 is stucked on v2.7.

I already tried to update to 2.8 / 3.3 / 3.32 and 3.5 (Garmin Exp.) accordingly to the above instructions.

Nothing worked, it is really frustrating.

Are there any other solutions?

the question ... why are you after three years desperately in search for an upgrade

something happened ? a new purchase ?

guess the version offered here by Garmin was a special one to correct the update problem

one needs to find this with Google or via a search here in the f30/f35 forum

contact Garmin support by phone for quickest solution

one more you perhaps did not try

in the 332 beta zip there are two firmware versions
use the one labelled with 330 to roll back (also special FW version)
read the instructions in the beta zip how to

oh, and turn off Garmin Express before and while doing all this

thanks, I tried 3.3 as well but it did not update.

I contacted Garmin support, let's see if they find the file somewhere in the archive

where is the ZIP? I know this watch is old but it should still be functional. Why is it no longer available?
