Forerunner 35 GPS and HR accuracy

Yesterday I did first test on my wife's new Forerunner 35 (firmware v. 2.50) vs. my Forerunner 920XT (firmware v. 8.20). Short walk from work, cloudy with light rain, both devices under sleeve. Difference in distances is negligible, 5.01km (FR920XT) vs 5.03km (FR35).

On map the track recorded by FR920XT (GPS and GLONASS enabled, smart recording) looks slightly more consistent, but FR35 performed very well too. Of course there is no elevation recorded by FR35.

I will do another test (run) including HR comparison today.

The 920 track there will appear smoother merely because you are using smart recording and so there are less recorded points than the 35 which only does every second recording.

That all said both tracks look totally "within expectation" and especially if you were wearing them under your sleeve which must reduce accuracy a bit.

First longer run today, no complaints at all. Sunny weather, both devices on sleeve.

Both track and heartrate look pretty reasonable.

One question though, was the FR 35 reading a chest strap or the HR readings were from the wrist sensor?

FR35 heartrate is from the built-in optical sensor. FR920XT heartrate is from HRM-RUN chest strap.

Another comparison from yesterday. Forerunner 920XT measured 16.16km, Forerunner 35 measured 16.28km. Not bad.
