Forerunner 235 no longer connecting or synching.

The issue started last night.  My watch battery wasn't low, but I plugged into charge.  In the morning, it was at same ~40%. I switched from the nightstand dock and plugged into my computer, where it appeared to start charging, typically about 30 minutes. After 40, it had climbed about 10%, but I had to run to work.  Since then, I can barely get the watch to accept connection to anything.  It will also randomly reboot anytime it does finally connect to Garmin Express, causing the IOS "eject" error and then won't detect unless I reboot both computer and watch to do the same song and dance. And even when the watch says its "charging" it wont push past 50%.

Battery issue or software/firmware issue? Watch is 4 years old or so.
